Course Description:

Review major aspects of instructional design and development with emphasis on learning outcomes, instructional objectives and strategies in the context of theory and practice. Emphasis on knowledge and skills required to create instructional design rationale.

Learning Objectives:

In particular, students will learn how to:

  1. Analyze human learning and performance problems
  2. Design training and education curriculums and programs
  3. Specify and describe learning and performance in terms of tasks, capabilities and mental processes.
  4. Generate valid learning assessment instruments and procedures.
  5. Design instructional sequences at the program, course, unit and lesson level.
  6. Select and formulate instructional strategies and create lessons.
  7. Develop instructional development project management plans.

Dissemination Strategy :

Distance learning, online class using WebCT.

Course Reflection:

This course and 632, I think should have been reversed. This course, in my opinion was more about the design to development stages of instructional design. This was my second online course. Like the first, I found something missing in the online structure and delivery. In the end I learned various design strategies. The whole process made more sense after 632.
